Tear-Off & Disposal
Every layer of old shingles and underlayment comes off, right down to the deck, so nothing stays hidden. Debris goes straight into dumpsters and the property is swept when we finish.
Roofing
Every budget, every style. We help you choose the right roof for your home, your timeline and your goals, then install it as a complete system.
4 main reasons
A roof is protection first. The best ROI is the water damage you never have.
A failing roof lets water into your deck, attic and living space, causing costly structural damage and mold.
Proper shingles, ventilation and insulation reduce attic heat and help control your heating and cooling costs.
A new roof is one of the most visible upgrades to your home, and a top-ROI exterior project at resale.
Modern shingles resist wind and impact, protecting your family and simplifying any insurance claim.
Measured, not guessed
We measure every roof with EagleView aerial imaging, accurate to the inch, before we ever quote. Exact measurements plus a hands-on condition check, with no ladder guesswork.

Roofing options
Five ways to do a roof, including the one we would talk you out of. We will walk you through which suits your house at the inspection.

The Shortcut
Shortesttypical lifespan
New shingles laid straight over the old ones. Cheaper and quicker, but it buries whatever is underneath, which is why we rarely recommend it.

Entry Level
15-20 yrstypical lifespan
Flat, single-layer shingles that meet code. The entry point, with the shortest life and the least wind resistance.

Most Popular
25-30 yrstypical lifespan
Thicker, dimensional shingles rated for 110-130 mph winds. The right balance of lifespan, looks and value for most Rochester homes.

Premium Asphalt
30+ yrstypical lifespan
Premium asphalt that reads as slate or cedar shake, with the best wind and impact ratings of any shingle we install.

Long-Life Premium
40-70 yrstypical lifespan
Interlocking metal panels. The longest-lasting roof we install, and excellent at shedding snow through a Rochester winter.
The JD PM way
Our recommended system for the majority of Rochester homes. It is the balance of durability, warranty and value that we would put on our own houses.
Rated for severe Rochester weather, from summer storms to winter snow load.
Complete water and ventilation protection, installed layer by layer.
Balanced intake and exhaust protect your deck and help lower your bills.
Premium shingles backed by strong manufacturer warranties.
Done right the first time, with accountability from start to finish.
Following the manufacturer’s instructions is what keeps their warranty valid.
Step by step
Seven steps, in order, from tear-off to a finished and ventilated ridge, photographed on our own jobs.

Every layer of old shingles and underlayment comes off, right down to the deck, so nothing stays hidden. Debris goes straight into dumpsters and the property is swept when we finish.

With the old roof stripped, we inspect the decking for rot, soft spots and water damage, and replace compromised sheets. Decking is itemized, so you pay only for what actually needs it.

Drip edge, rubberized ice & water shield at the leak-prone eaves and valleys, and synthetic underlayment across the full deck. This is the layer that actually keeps water out.

A purpose-built strip along the eaves and rakes. Its factory adhesive bonds the first row so wind cannot get underneath and peel it back. We use manufacturer starter, never cut-up shingles.

Premium dimensional shingles rated for 110-130 mph winds, nailed in the sealant zone with the correct fastener count, every time.

A continuous vent along the peak lets hot, moist attic air escape. Balanced with soffit intake, it prevents the mold, deck rot and premature aging that shorten a roof's life.

Angled metal flashing along eaves and rakes channels runoff into the gutter and protects the fascia and framing from rot. Code-required, and layered with the underlayment correctly.

Roofing FAQ
Anyone who quotes a figure before seeing the roof is guessing. The price depends on the size and pitch of your roof, the condition of the decking underneath, how many layers have to come off, and the material you choose.
That is why the inspection is free and comes first. We measure with EagleView aerial imaging, check the roof by hand, and give you a written, itemized number based on your actual house, with no pressure to accept it.
Most residential roofs are a one to two day job once we start. Steeper pitches, larger homes, multiple tear-off layers or significant decking replacement can add a day.
Yes. We document the damage, provide the measurements and scope your adjuster needs, and stay involved through the claim. As your installing contractor we handle the repair itself.
Fully licensed and fully insured, and we are happy to hand you a current certificate of liability insurance before any work begins.
JD pro tip: never let anyone uninsured or underinsured onto your roof. Ask any contractor for proof of insurance. A real one will produce it without hesitating.
The standard materials we install come with a manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty against defects, covering your roof for as long as you own the home under normal residential use. Because we install to the manufacturer’s specifications, that coverage stays valid.
Yes. Competitive financing is available. Ask about it during your estimate and we will walk you through the options alongside the quote.
Often, yes. If a repair is the right call we will tell you so. We would rather fix what you have and earn the replacement later than sell you a roof you do not need yet.
Greater Rochester, Monroe County and the Finger Lakes are our home patch, but we take on work right across upstate New York as needed. If you are further out, ask us and we will tell you straight whether we can get to you.
We also work in Florida, so if you have a vacation home down south, just ask.
